about

I grew up in Vancouver BC but relocated to Halifax, NS after graduating from Costume Studies at Dalhousie University in 1983. I began my career at Halifax’ Neptune Theatre and The Charlottetown Festival constructing costumes, dressing and supervising on many plays. I love the theatre and this work gave me a great foundation as I moved on to costuming for films and TV.

Although I have travelled for work, I consider myself lucky to have been able to stay in Halifax and have this great career as a Costume Designer. I’ve worked in Halifax with iconic actors like Ethan Hawke, Sean Penn, Donald Sutherland, Gabriel Byrne, Cybill Shepherd, Jane Seymour, Angela Bassett, Ellen Page and James Caan to name but a few (I figure this is a good place to name drop).

I have done some epic period costume projects such as Darwin’s Darkest Hour (which won a History Makers Award), Moby Dick (which shot partly in Nova Scotia and partly in Malta). I designed two TV series about the life of Pierre Trudeau depicting 6 decades and I designed the contemporary feature film, Jumping the Broom for Sony Pictures. I have just finished the longest job I’ve ever had, an 8 year run on a contemporary comedy TV series called Mr.D during which period I also did the TV series, Seed, and the feature films, The Healer and Polaroid.

I enjoy both modern and period costume design, Feature films and Television. I’m known for being a good researcher and budgeter and my extensive experience helps me troubleshoot when faced with the unexpected. I’m open for business and looking forward collaborating with you on your next project.
